JACK AND KATIE
In 2010 Clive brought along his grandson Jack, then 8, on Thursdays during the school holidays and 18 months later his sister Katie when she reached the same age. Under supervision they learnt to use both hand and power tools properly, Jack the bandsaw and pillar drill and Katie the fretsaw.
Jack made a steam loco for his Cub Hobbies Badge, his own Harry Potter- type wand and a walking stick whilst Katie has carved a name plate, cut lots of badges on the fretsaw and a horse to pull a model gypsy caravan.
Both continued to attend regularly until they left for University, when it became a bit more sporadic. Now, in 2016 – at 24 and almost 23- they are still involved. Jack has made it to the last three AGM’s and Katie is back on a Thursday to rekindle her artistic carving skills.
